Oil Speculation Bill Blocked By Senate Republicans

Yesterday Friday July 25, 2008 the Senate Republicans blocked a bill aimed at controlling oil speculation. The Democratic backed bill fell just shy of the required sixty votes, with a final vote tally of fifty to forty-three. Record high oil and gasoline prices are being blamed as the result of excessive speculation on oil futures.
