Gasoline and Diesel Theft
Certain things in life just plain urk me, so this post may be a good one for me to vent some steam out. My personal philosophy on life is this: hard work and honesty will allow you to live a successful and prosperous life. But as of late, what I have read about in the newspapers is nothing more than shameful. So what exactly am I talking about? Murders? Drug Trafficking? Armed Robberies? Although these things are a major issue, none of which are what I’m eluding to. This is solely about gasoline and diesel theft.
Each and every day there are numerous reports of gasoline theft, and this number is rising. It appears that no one is scotch free of this epidemic. Take for instance this scenario which happened to a close friend of mine. A few months back, this friend of mine had his vehicle parked in his driveway. When it started to get dark outside, he saw a silhouette of a man go across the side of his yard. He didn’t think anything of it, as his neighborhood is safe by all standards. So when it was time to leave for work the following morning, my friend was shocked by what he saw. His car’s fuel gage measured empty. It took him a few minutes before he registered the idea that the man from the night before siphoned the gas from his tank. At $4.00 dollars per gallon, he payed a small price for being robbed.
My friend was one of the more fortunate persons, in terms of money lost from stolen fuel. Gasoline stations have been getting ripped of at alarming rates as people pump then drive away. Many road truckers have reported diesel stolen from their fuel tanks while at rest stops. Equipment on construction sites have also been robbed for the ‘precious commodity’ that fuels their engines.
I guess it just goes to show how unmoral a lot of people are during tough times. Instead of working more hours, getting a part time job, or cutting back on other things to save money they steal. The people resort to ripping off hard working individuals, so they don’t have to be burned at the pump. This is just plain disgusting.
Fortunately there is something that you can do to prevent gasoline theft. You can go down to your local automotive store and purchase a locking gas cap. These caps prevent others from siphoning out the gas from within your vehicle. The good news is it won’t set you back much money either, only about $10 dollars. This is such a small fee to pay in comparison to replacing stolen gas. So PLEASE don’t let this happen to you and purchase a locking gas cap today.

Hii Jay,
This is my first visit and when I read this article I find it interesting after reading it. Something came in my mind so thought to share with you.
You took the topic on Gasoline and Diesel theft so my comment will stick to it only. To stop any crime its more necessary to know the reason behind that crime than spending money on security and defense. If gasoline theft is getting high than did you think ever “why?” why its getting high? what are those reasons behind? don’t you think that somewhere progressed countries and there progress which is gone blind is the reason behind, don’t you think that war on Iraq and destroying trillions of crude oil well is the reason behind?
Anyways, I hope you will put some light on the basis of my comment, all the best for this new and beautiful blog.
Regards,
zazo.
