Solar Power Plant Planned for Pennsylvania

It may be ironic that Pennsylvania, once known for its prosperous coal industry, is on track to becoming a national leader in solar power technology. The news comes after after an announcement was made this past Thursday that Pennsylvania will soon be home to the United State’s second largest solar power plant. The plant which will be located in the eastern part of the state in the borugh of Nesquehoning, will be situated on one-hundred acres of land.

At a cost of around sixty-five million dollars; the plant will feature rotating trackers with solar panels mounted on top, to maximize the captured sunlight. The potential amount of electricity that can be produced is estimated to be around ten megawatts, or enough energy to power close to fifteen-hundred homes.
